AGM & Members’ Lunch 2025
The Trust’s Annual General Meeting was held on Saturday 10th May 2025 at St. Augustine’s Church, Brookland, at 2:30pm.
The Members’ Lunch was held at 12:30pm at Brookland Village Hall and was full booked.

Centenary of the passing of E. Nesbit, buried at St. Mary-in-the-Marsh
2024 marked the centenary of the death of English writer E. Nesbit, who is buried at St. Mary-the-Virgin’s Church at St. Mary-in-the-Marsh.
Edith Nesbit’s work reinvented storytelling for children, with highly-imaginative plot lines, adventures and loveable characters.

Ghost story inspired by Brenzett Church monument coming to BBC 2 on Christmas Eve 2024
Several of the churches on Romney Marsh are associated with one of world’s greatest writers of children’s literature, E. Nesbit. On Christmas Eve 2024 at 10:15pm on BBC 2, acclaimed actor and director Mark Gatiss brought her story Man-Size in Marble to life. The story was inspired by the Fagge Monument at Brenzett.

Members and supporters gathered for our 2024 AGM and Members’ Lunch
The Venerable Darren Miller, Archdeacon of Ashford, was the guest speaker for our 2024 AGM, which took place at St. Dunstan’s in Snargate on the afternoon of Saturday 18th May 2024. Nearly 100 people attended the event, with around half also joining for the Members’ Lunch at Brenzett Village Hall. Thank you to all who came, including our volunteers. Special thanks also to Elizabeth Marshall who, following the AGM, stepped down from her role as Honourable Secretary for the Trust after many years of dedicated service.

Members’ Tour 2024
Our annual tour of the churches, for members of the Trust, took place on Saturday 7th September 2024, hosted by Joan Campbell. Members visited the churches at Brookland, Snargate and Fairfield. This tour was fully subscribed.
JAM on the Marsh returned to the Romney Marsh churches, 4th-14th July 2024
From 4-14th July 2024, JAM on the Marsh returned to Romney Marsh for its 11th festival. The festival brought world-class talent to the medieval churches of Romney Marsh and other locations across the area, including local gardens and steam railway carriages! In 2024, the programme featured an array of international and local artists, spanning music, theatre, opera, film, poetry and visual arts.

A new way to experience local historic churches
The Romney Marsh Historic Churches Trust supported an exciting new project involveing nine churches in the local region, including four on Romney Marsh.
